“First ever Dyson product and we absolutely LOVE IT. Read all the reviews, blahblahblah, took the plunge and ordered it. After about a week of use, here’s my take:

- Suction is great. Don’t know what planet the people are on who say it’s lacking here. Oh, and BTW: Vacuum varies based on elevation, so if you live at like 9,000′ yeah, ANY vacuum won’t suck (or will suck, depending on where you’re coming from).

- Overall design is fantastic. Smart, smart, smart. Dyson obviously puts a LOT of thought into their design and I, for one, appreciate that.

- Trigger: So I was concerned about this. But it’s fine. Actually, it’s (look for the theme, here) SMART. Why? Because you’re looking at about 15 minutes runtime.
Which is plenty. But the trigger forces you to turn the damn thing OFF when you move to another room, put it down to move a chair, whatever. Think about it: They put an ON/OFF switch and some dimwit will leave it on when they walk off to answer the phone, check on Fluffy, whatever…and when the battery runs out they will be the ones to gripe. So the trigger is fine. No sweat.

- Maneuverability: This thing will go ANYWHERE. Whatever it “supposedly” lacks in anything else, it makes up for in ease of use and the ability to get into small, strange places.

- Cost: Yeah, it’s expensive. So are luxury cars and you generally get what you pay for. Given that this thing improves my quality of life I am MORE than happy to pay the price.

- Accessories/Mounting Plate: Again, smart and very minimalistic.

- Battery life: OK, so I live in a smaller home, about 1,600 sq. ft. and while I have yet to run out of juice I can understand how if you lived in a big house this might be an issue. Not sure what to tell you…either get a corded one or just vacuum for 15 minutes at a time. I read a review where a lady said “Life is too short to spend more than 15 minutes vacuuming.” Well-said, lady. Well-said.

I have used this thing nearly every day for three reasons: 1) It’s just cool. 2) I am consistently amazed with the stuff it picks up. And let me tell you, we keep a clean house. That said, I dump the canister and just shake my head. 3) When something is easy to use, you’re more likely to use it. Being cordless is just the way to go.

So by now you are sick of reading so let me just tell you that the Dyson gets two big thumbs up/5-stars from a hard-to-please, penny-pinching skeptic of a consumer.”

“Very impressed with this cordless, rechargable, mini vac. It is very spendy but you get your money’s worth. Very easy to use for multiple purposes. I am not impressed with the way it vacuumes my area floor rug, but my other vacuum did no better.

I have all tile flooring downstairs and it is a wiz to use and it does pick up the dust, dirt and sand. Easily converts to small handheld vac for all areas inside the car cleaning. The dirt canister is very small but very easy to empty. Push the red button on the side and the bottom flips open and you never touch any dirt or have to disassemble to empty.

I really like the washable filter, it is not a paper type and is very durable. I easily convert the vac to a small handheld vac with rotary powered head in order to quickly clean my stairway going upstairs. This carpet it cleans easily. The battery last about 12 minutes and when it dies, it dies. You can easily have an extra battery ready in order to keep on cleaning.

The charger is designed to charge a battery all by itself without the vacuum being attached. This vac is the best cordless vac I have ever had. I have had electrolux, hover, bissel, red devil, shark and this is the best out of all of them combined. I highly recommend it if your are wanting a high quality cordless vac, it has the power equal to a corded vacuum.

I have tried a number of the other cordless vac’s on the market and they do not have the suction power or the adaptabilty of this one. This vac makes cleaning quick, easy, fun, and fast. That is saying a lot since there is more to life then cleaning. Enjoy.”

“My big complaint is that the handle is quite poorly designed (my hands are small.) My thumb knuckle hits the top of the body while holding the vac. This makes my hand ache. I have to switch to my other hand every minute or so.

I don’t mind the fact that the vac is on only when my hand is on the trigger, just that the whole design is so clunky and non-ergonomic. Quite uncomfortable on the hand.
The vac itself works great light, not very noisy, good suction, and good storage. design The 15 minute is quite enough to do the whole house.

Dont find that a big issue. But Gosh, I wish this thing was easy on the hand!”

“I bought this for my wife as she was always picking up her hair in the bathroom after blow drying. I found that this vacuum is great for that and excels in most other applications as well. If you already own a Dyson upright, the DC35 is every bit as good.

Where the dyson DC35 fails is with its battery. It’s terrible. For one thing, it’s too small – only 1.3Ah. That would be OK, if it charged in 15 minutes. But it actually takes 3.5hours! I just bought several new cordless Makita power tools with 3.0Ah batteries that charge in an astounding 30minutes! Makita even make a slim version that is half the size and takes only 15 minutes to charge.

I’m confident that Bosch, DeWalt and Milwaukee all have similar battery technology. Yes, these are 18V, and not 22.2V like the DC35′s. But the power tool companies have all moved away from their previous generation 24V batteries to current generation 18V ones that seem to last forever and charge in the blink of an eye. Why Dyson didn’t bother pairing the latest in battery technology with what is a truly excellent vacuum is beyond me.

That being said, the DC35 is the best there is at the moment. But this is far from being as good as it can get and I’m sure eventually Dyson will adopt a more advanced battery technology that will enhance this product significantly. If you need a handheld today and don’t mind paying top dollar than the DC35 is for you. If however you can wait a while, I’d hold off on the DC35 until Version 2.”
