“I have had 2 other machines. The Zarfina and the TriniTea, neither was truly impressive. This machine blew my socks off.

First – the construction. Stainless steel, glass, black rubber, and plexiglass for the kettle handle.

Second – totally customizable brew temperature (160 degrees – 212 degrees, 5 degree increments), customizable brew time (1:00 to 10:00 in 0:30 increments).

Third – amazing magnetically suspended tea basket moves in and out of the tea during brewing.

Fourth – keep warm feature, timed start feature, it also keeps track of the time since you brewed the tea so you can track its freshness.

Fifth – can operate as an electric kettle, and just heat water if you leave out the basket.

One thing to consider is that the kettle cannot be placed in the dishwasher. To clean you boil water or vinegar for 3:00.

The one thing I feel is that I have gotten every bit of my money’s worth from this item. Nothing about it feels cheaply made. I’d recommend this to anyone who loves tea.”

“After a salesperson in a tea & coffee shop told me that much of the tea used in tea bags was the leftover “crumbs” from what companies sell as loose tea, I wanted to try brewing loose tea and see if there really was much of a difference. I bought a tea infuser ball but found it allowed little specs of tea leaves to get into my brew, and the flavor didn’t wow me. THEN I got the chance to test the Breville One-Touch Tea Maker out. OMG! This takes the guesswork out and takes brewing tea to a whole different level.

The unit is very sleek looking and for anyone with the available counter space this would be one item you would definitely want to leave out. The carafe is substantial feeling. But what it DOES is simply outstanding! Now I realize how different water temperatures and different brew times really impact the flavor of different teas. Of course buying quality tea is essential–right now I’m drinking a lot of Rishi Earl Grey Loose Organic Black Tea (from Amazon.com) and Organic Assam Tea from “Two Leaves and a Bud” tea company, and it’s absolutely heaven.

This would make a superb gift, or an investment for yourself in an absolutely wonderful tea maker.”

“It is a great toy, but I have a question about plastic parts. After an extensive cleaning, I still can’t get rid of the plastic taste and smell in my tea. The infusion basket has a strong chemical smell after the contact with a boiling water. Anyone noticed that? Does it go away? I love the idea of “one touch tea maker”.

I just wonder what kind of common sense designers of this great toy used by introducing the plastic parts into a tea maker.”

“There is so much about this machine to absolutely love — consistent temperature brewing, automatic raising and lowering of the tea basket, timers … all the bells and whistles.

However, the mesh in the tea basket is so large that tea leaves and spices go through it really easy. That’s a huge fail.

I have uploaded a customer image holding the Breville tea basket and a finium tea basket — note that you can see giant holes in the basket from Breville and that you can’t see any in the other in a picture (in person you practically need a magnifying glass to see the size of the mesh holes in the finium).

I inquired with Breville about other available baskets with a finer mesh and none are offered. Very disappointing for such an expensive product that is otherwise very high quality.”
